Paris-based sales company Reel Suspects has boarded sales on Belgian director Véronique Jadin’s dark comedy Employee Of The Month, ahead of its world premiere in the online “at home’ section of the Tribeca Film Festival (June 8-19).

Jasmina Douieb stars as a disgruntled, hard-working employee at a cleaning company who accidentally and messily kills her boss while asking for a pay rise. She enlists the help of a young trainee to help cover her tracks. Other cast members include Laetitia Mampaka and Peter Van Den Begin.

It is Jadin’s first fiction feature after a number of shorts and documentaries and assistant director positions. She directs and wrote the screenplay.

Sebastian Schelenz, whose recent credits include Zanka Contact (as co-producer) and Canadian director Bruce McDonald’s Dreamland, is the lead producer, under the banner of Velvet Films.

“Véronique’s first feature is an impressive dark comedy feminist tale at the crossroads of the grotesque humour of The Office and the jubilant vengeance spree of Promising Young Woman,” said Reel Suspects CEO Matteo Lovadina.

“Its inventiveness remains in its ability to establish the classic codes of the revenge film in a burlesque and feminist framework, giving birth to a work that fits perfectly into the elevated genre kind of Cinema that we are promoting for more than a decade”.

Reel Suspects will market screen the film in Cannes prior to its Tribeca debut.
