EXCLUSIVE: Here is the first trailer for Finnish Popstar Anna Eriksson’s allegorical horror W, ahead of its Out of Competition world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival, running from August 3 to 13.
The psychodrama unfolds against the backdrop of a medical institution set in a snow-covered wasteland and revolves around the terminally ill character of Europe who is killing time with her Chinese Man Machine.
Former Eurovision Song Contest contender and multidisciplinary artist Eriksson is one of Finland’s most successful pop singers.
W marks her second feature after M, which world premiered in Venice Critics’ Week in 2018 and then toured the international festival circuit.
Paris-based genre specialist Reel Suspects recently acquired sales rights to the film and has released the first trailer for the film.
The feature is produced by Matti Pyykkö for Ihode Management with the backing of the Finnish Film Fund.
“Anna Eriksson’s sophomore feature delivers a controversial and insolent cinematographic experience with a powerful narrative and theatrical atmosphere,” said Reel Suspects founding head Matteo Lovadina.
